About The Angle

African Perspectives on Digital Culture | Creativity | Media | Money | Governance

Who We Are

The Angle is an African digital media and storytelling platform that explores the intersection of digital culture, creativity, media, money and governance.
Founded by Scott Peter Smith and Stanley Moloto, The Angle is rooted in the belief that the most compelling stories about Africa's digital future are already here—on the ground, being built by artists, technologists, entrepreneurs, and civic thinkers.
At its heart, The Angle is a podcast-first platform, supported by visual stories, articles, newsletters, and event-based activations. It is also a publishing lab—experimenting with multi-modal content strategies that make African perspectives more visible, shareable, and financially sustainable.

What We Do

Podcasting & Longform Interviews

  • The Angle Podcast features deep-dive conversations with African founders, creatives, thinkers, and technologists
  • Content is repackaged across YouTube, Spotify, Substack, and social platforms for layered engagement

Multi-Modal Publishing & Documentation

  • From raw interviews to refined narratives, The Angle builds workflows that extend a single story across multiple formats
  • Podcast episodes generate not just one product but up to five pieces of audience-specific content

Platform Strategy for Public Impact

  • Our goal is not just reach but relevance: putting the right content in front of the right audience, on the right platform
  • Collaborations include partners in civic tech, creative economies, XR/VR, digital policy, and independent journalism

Creative Consultancy & Media Innovation

  • The Angle advises cultural and innovation hubs on digital media strategy, storytelling, and documentation
  • Clients and collaborators include Tshimologong Precinct, FakUgesi Festival, Wits University, and others
